NASCAR’s Bowman Coming to Tri-City Raceway Park
(Franklin, PA July 20, 2021): While much of the planning for this Sunday’s racing at Tri-City Raceway Park focused upon the annual Ray’s Race for the Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship, an unexpected announcement came from the NASCAR world on Monday. Star driver Alex Bowman, a member of the powerful Hendrick Motorsports team, revealed that he will be churning the dirt at the Venango County oval in his beautiful, purple 410 Sprint Car. The machine will carry Bowman’s familiar number 55 with primary sponsorship from Ally, which backs his number 48 in the NASCAR ranks.
Bowman will compete against the Shawgo Real Estate LLC 410 Sprint Cars this week and next while NASCAR has an extended vacation for the Summer Olympics.
Brandon Matus will be ready for Bowman and anybody else who may venture to Tri-City Raceway Park. Matus is riding a wave of top finishes that has carried him to the point lead over defending track champion, Jack Sodeman, Jr. Last week’s winner, A.J. Flick, is also expected, along with nearly two dozen other racers.
The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks will be challenged by all of the regional stars in a special race that will pay $3,500 to the winner! The Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship attracts the best racers and cars and this Sunday will be no different! Winning Ray’s Race is a special honor in the Pro Stock realm, as the late Ray Virgile was a loyal supporter of the class at Tri-City Raceway Park and other area tracks.
The 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks will be on the card, and there is a new leader of the pack in that class as well. Justin Bailey finished second to Chad Greeley last week, but that was more than enough to leap frog him over Dalton Speer, who led the chase from the start of the racing season.
Returning to action will be the Krill Recycling LLC 358 Modifieds. Jeremiah Shingledecker has won three in a row and now he must start last in the field under track rules. Can he come from the back for another victory? You will need to be there to see it for yourself.
The pit gates will swing open at 2 p.m., and the spectator gates will open at 4 p.m. Racing will start at 6 p.m. Come out early to get your favorite seats because a big crowd is expected.
This event will have regular ticket pricing even though these extra attractions are included. So, adults (ages 16 to 62) will be admitted for $15, and seniors (ages 62 and up) will enjoy the show for just $13. Student admission (for those ages 10 to 16) will be $10. Children (ages 10 and under) will be free. The Family Pass will be available for $45 and that will apply to two adults of any age and two students. Pit Passes will be $30.
