Tri-City Raceway Park to Open Sunday

(Franklin, PA April 26, 2023):  Tri-City Raceway Park will jump into the deep end of the pool this week. It will present its opening event of the 2023 season on April 30, without the benefit of the customary practice session to kick things off.

“We had a practice session scheduled for April 23,” said track owner Merle Black “But the weather had other plans.” The practice session was canceled due to wet conditions following the heavy rains the day before.

“We are hoping that we can get a few clear days so the track and grounds can dry out,” he added.

The opening event will be a blockbuster. Joining the four usual classes that make up the Sunday Thunder card will be the RUSH Sprint Cars. So, there will be five divisions in action, topped by the 410 Sprints and the 358 Modifieds. The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks and the 4 Your Car Connection Four Cylinder Mini Stocks will also be in action.

The Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. Spectator gates will open at 4. Practice sessions will commence at 5:30, with heat racing to follow at 6 p.m.

The general admission ticket prices will be $15 for adults. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 10-16) will be admitted for $12. The children (ages 10 and under) will be admitted for free. The popular Family Pass will be back at just $45. That will be good for two adults of any age and two Students. Pit Passes will be $30.

If you cannot make it to the speedway for opening day, remember that another Sunday Thunder program will be presented on May 7. On that evening, the top performers from 2022 in the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks and the 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks will be recognized.
