Tri-City Raceway Park Back in Action Sunday
(Franklin, PA August 1, 2023): Just five more weeks of racing remain at Tri-City Raceway Park for the 2023 season. After an unexpected cancellation two weeks ago and a special attraction last week, action on the fast oval will resume this Sunday, August 6. On tap will be the customary four divisions that make up the Sunday Thunder program. Plus, fans of all ages will enjoy autograph night!
All of the racers will be asked to take their cars onto the front stretch so the fans can come down from the stands to mingle with their favorite drivers. It will be a great time to get an autograph from or to snap a selfie with the heros who provide all of the thrills. Many racers will have treats or picture cards to pass out to the fans as well.
The contest for the track championship in the Diehl Chevrolet 410 Sprint Car division is too close to call. A.J. Flick has a slim 24 point lead over veteran Bob Felmlee. And, Jack Sodeman, Jr. is only 40 points out of first place. So, watch these three drivers closely to see who comes out on top!
Some other Sprint Car drivers who are expected include Brandon Spithaler, who is returning home after nabbing a win and a top five racing in Indiana. Jeremy Weaver is looking to claim the checkers, too. Andy Cavanaugh, Bodey McClintock, and Steve Bright should also be contenders.
In the Pitt Stop Pub 358 Modifieds, Ayden Cipriano has a 22 point advantage over Chad Reitz in the quest for the championship. Cipriano is a young racer seeking his first title at Tri-City, while Reitz is a veteran who came back to the sport after taking a couple of seasons off. Nick Joy, from the Empire State, is coming off a big win at Tri-City, and he is expected to be in the field, along with Tom, Jimmy, and Hayden Holden, Lenny Liebold, Jr., Steve Beggs, and many more.
Tyler Wyant leads Rod Lasky by 41 points and Pat Fielding by 42 in the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks. But stiff competition is expected from Josh Seippel, who debuted a brand new car recently. Plenty of other hungry racers will be on hand to challenge for the win.
And, the closest battle for supremacy is in the 4 Your Car Connection Four Cylinder MIni Stock division. Just three counters separate Matt Urey and Levi Maskal. Consistent Chad Greeley sits in third, just 40 points behind Urey, so don’t count him out just yet! A dozen or more drivers will see if they can knock off the pair of Hondas driven by Urey and Maskal. Tom Warren did it just a couple of weeks ago. Can he double up?
The regular event ticket pricing will apply for August 6. So, adults will be admitted for $15, seniors (age 62 and up) for $13, and students (ages 10 to 16) also for $13. Children (under age 10) will be admitted for free. The Family Pass will be available for $45, and that will benefit two adults of any age and two students. The Pit Passes will be $30.
The Pit gates will open at 2 p.m., and spectator admission will commence at 4 p.m. Racing will be at 6 p.m.
If you cannot make it to Tri-City Raceway Park this Sunday, get ready for the invasion of the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series on August 13. You will want to see who among the Diehl Chevrolet Sprint Car pilots will do battle that night without their wings! In addition to the traditional Sprinters, the Pitt Stop Pub 358 Modifieds, the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks, and the 4 Your Car Connection Four Cylinder Mini Stocks will be on hand.
